Victoria Road made his career debut in a 2-year-old race going seven furlongs at Roscommon in Ireland on May 9, 2022. He won his maiden race at the same distance in his fifth career start at Gowran Park in Ireland on Aug. 10. That victory began a four-race winning streak to end Victoria Road’s 2-year-old campaign which concluded with a win in the Grade 1 $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Keeneland on Friday, Nov. 4.

In the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, coming off a win in his last start in the Group 3 Prix de Conde at Chantilly on Sept. 17, Victoria Road was sent off as the 5-1 third choice on the tote board in a full 14-horse field. He waited in traffic on the turn in mid-pack and then threaded the needle through traffic in the stretch under jockey Ryan Moore and won a duel with Silver Knott to prevail by a nose. Victoria Road ran the one mile on firm turn in a time of 1:35.99 for the win by the slimmest of margins.
Victoria Road is trained by Aidan O’Brien. He was bred in Ireland by the sire Saxon Warrior out of the mare Tickled Pink by Invincible Spirit.
