Sole Volante won his career debut in October 2019 on the grass at Gulfstream Park West. He followed with a two-length win in the Pulpit Stakes Nov. 30 at Gulfstream Park.
Sole Volante was switched to the main track for the Mucho Macho Man Stakes Jan. 4 at Gulfstream Park and rallied to finish third. He stayed on the dirt for the Grade 3 Sam F. Davis Stakes and closed powerfully to reel in highly regarded Independence Hall to earn 10 qualifying points on the road to the 2020 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve.

Making his next start in the Grade 2 Lambholm South Tampa Bay Derby, Sole Volante closed powerfully to finish second, 4 3/4 lengths behind winner King Guillermo.
Sole Volante returned after a three-month break to compete in a tough allowance race on June 10 at Gulfstream Park against Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth Stakes winner Ete Indien and Curlin Florida Derby runner-up Shivaree. He closed from last of six in the one-turn mile race to win going away under Panici.
Sole Volante is from the first crop of 2014 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Karakontie. Out of the winning Kingmambo mare Light Blow, Sole Volante is a half-brother to graded stakes winner Explode. Light Blow is a full-sister to 2007 Vodafone Epsom Oaks winner Light Shift.
