Pass the Champagne

Pass the Champagne broke her maiden in her second career start, winning a maiden special weight race at Gulfstream Park by 2 1/2 lengths on Feb. 27, 2021. After stalking the pace, she rallied three-wide on the turn and drew off to win the seven-furlong race handily.

Next out, Pass the Champagne made her graded stakes debut in the Grade 1 Central Bank Ashland Stakes at Keeneland on Apr. 3. She set the early pace and drew clear int he stretch but was caught in the last few strides by Malathaat. Pass the Champagne's second-place finish earned her 40 qualifying points towards the Grade 1 Longines Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs on Apr. 30. In her subsequent start in the Kentucky Oaks, Pass the Champagne finished 12th in what turned out to be her final start of her 3-year-old season.

Pass the Champagne was off the next several months and returned from a nine-month layoff with a victory on Feb. 3, 2022 in an allowance race at Gulfstream Park. That race, unfortunately, turned out to be her only start of her 4-year-old year as she went to the sidelines again for a significant amount of time once again.

Pass the Champagne got another career reboot as a 5-year-old and started that season at Tampa Bay Downs on Jan. 14, 2023, and finished second in the Wayward Miss Stakes.

Pass the Champagne got back into the winner's circle in the Grade 2 Ruffian Stakes at Belmont Park on May 6, 2023. Sent off as the 7.50-1 fourth choice in a six-horse field, Pass the Champagne raced in mid-pack much of the way then made her move to the lead in the stretch and drew off to a big 5 1/2-length win in 1:36.13 for the mile on a fast track for trainer George Weaver.
