Mr. A. P., a son of 2015 Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup Classic winner and Horse of the Year American Pharoah, finished second in his first two starts sprinting at Del Mar during the track’s summer 2025 meet. He then responded when stretched out to a mile Oct. 13 at Santa Anita Park and won a one-mile maiden race by a nose after a sustained stretch battle.
Mr. A. His connections then entered Mr. A. P. in the $2 million, Grade 1 FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Presented by Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance Oct. 31 back at Del Mar, where he was sent off as a 20.60-1 longshot in a field with two heavy favorites in Ted Noffey and Brant. Mr. A. P. tracked off the pace set by Brant, with Ted Noffey just behind the leader, and began his rally in the homestretch as Ted Noffey struck the front. Mr. A. P. finished full of run to edge Brant for runner-up honors, ending up a length behind Ted Noffey in an encouraging performance.
The bay ridgling was bred in Kentucky and is out of the stakes-winning Discreet Cat mare Trenchtown Cat.
