Layabout

Layabout won his maiden race as a 3-year-old in a route race on the all-weather surface at Gulfstream Park on May 9, 2025. He followed that up with a win in his following start in a n allowance optional claiming race in his first career turf outing going one mile at Gulfstream Park on June 20. Layabout became a stakes winner for the first time in his subsequent start in the $75,000 Bears Den Stakes going a mile on the turf at Gulfstream on Aug. 2. He later capped-off a four-win 2025 campaign with a victory back at Gulfstream in the $125,000 Tropical Park Derby on Dec. 13.

Layabout began his 4-year-old season with a bang with a victory in the Grade 3 $225,000 William L. McKnight Stakes presented by Woodford Reserve going 1 1/2 miles on the turf aiop a full field of 12 on Jan. 24, 2026, at Gulfstream Park. Layabout established the pace in the McKnight, fended off a mid-race challenge and sprinted clear in the stretch to prevail by 1 1/4 lengths at the wire.
