Chaos Theory won his February 2018 career debut on the grass but followed with a pair of unplaced finishes on the main track. He showed improvement upon returning to turf racing and won his 2019 bow at Fair Grounds by a neck in a sprint on the grass. Chaos Theory returned four weeks later at Fair Grounds and earned a breakthrough stakes win when he closed from off the pace to score by a length in the Colonel Power Stakes at the New Orleans track.

After an unplaced finish in his graded stakes debut, Chaos Theory ran third in the Grade 2 Twin Spires Turf Sprint S. presented by MassMutual on the Longines Kentucky Oaks undercard in what was the final race of his 4-year-old campaign.
Bidding for a repeat victory in the Colonel Power in his first start after a 9 ½-month layoff, Chaos Theory came up a neck short Feb. 15, 2020, at Fair Grounds. He regained his winning form in a June 20 allowance victory at Churchill Downs before a breakthrough graded stakes win Aug. 22 at Del Mar in the Grade 3 Green Flash Handicap.
