Breeders’ Cup Limited revealed Oct. 25 the official order of races and post times for the 2023 Breeders’ Cup World Championships as well as an expanded betting menu for the two-day event scheduled for Friday, Nov. 3 and Saturday, Nov. 4 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif.
There will be a total of 10 races (five Breeders' Cup races) on the first day of the Championships – “Future Stars Friday” – and 12 races on the Saturday program (nine Breeders' Cup races). The Friday program begins at 11:30 a.m. PT with four undercard races. The first Breeders’ Cup World Championships race on Friday will be the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint, which will have a post time of 2 p.m. PT. The Prevagen Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (Race #9) will be the final Breeders’ Cup race of the day with a post time of 4:40 p.m. PT. A Santa Anita allowance race (Race #10) will conclude the first-day card with a post time of 5:10 p.m. PT.
Championship Saturday’s first post is 10:10 a.m. PT and begins with two undercard races. The $6 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic (Race #9) will have a post time of 3:40 p.m. PT. The Classic will be followed by the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (Race #10) at 4:25 p.m. PT, and the $2 million Qatar Racing Breeders’ Cup Sprint at 5 p.m. PT. Saturday’s program will conclude with a Santa Anita allowance race (Race #12) with a post time of 5:30 p.m. PT.
This year, a total of 27 countries, including Canada, England, France, Germany, and Ireland, will be offering pari-mutuel, commingled wagering on the World Championships through the Breeders’ Cup Global Pool.
Nine other jurisdictions will be offering separate pool wagering: Argentina, Australia, Ecuador, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, Paraguay, and Turkey.
The 2023 betting menu will include a Breeders’ Cup All-Turf $3 Pick 3 on Friday. The three races, in order, are:
The Breeders’ Cup All-Turf Pick 4 on Saturday is a 50-cent minimum wager and will package four of the best turf races in the world together with full fields of international competitors. The four races, in order, are:
For the first time, the Breeders’ Cup will offer the Breeders’ Cup All-Dirt Pick 4 on Saturday, which is a 50-cent minimum wager. The four races, in order, are:
Both the All-Turf Pick 4 and the All-Dirt Pick 4 will have a player-friendly 15% takeout.
Breeders’ Cup will also offer a third, middle Pick 5 on Saturday, starting with Race 3. The early Pick 5 will start with Race 1 and the late Pick 5 begins with Race 7. Last year’s late Pick 5 on Saturday generated a $4.8 million pool while the late Pick 4 offered a $3 million pool.

The first Championship race on “Future Stars Friday” will be the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (2 p.m.) followed by the $2 million NetJets Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (2:40 p.m.), the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (3:20 p.m.), the $2 million FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (4 p.m.) and the $1 million Prevagen Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (4:40 p.m.).
Championship Saturday begins with two undercard races followed by the $1 million Big Ass Fans Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (11:30 a.m.), the $2 million Maker’s Mark Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (12:10 p.m.), $1 million PNC Bank Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (12:50 p.m.), the $2 million FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Mile (1:30 p.m.), the $2 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff (2:10 p.m. PT), the $4 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf (2:50 p.m.), the $6 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic (3:40 p.m.), the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (4:25 p.m.), and the $2 million Qatar Racing Breeders’ Cup Sprint (5 p.m.).
The race order for the undercard races on Breeders’ Cup Friday and Saturday will be announced on Monday, Oct. 30.
USA Network and FanDuel TV will both televise the first day of this year’s World Championships. USA Network coverage will take place from 4-8 p.m. ET/1-5 p.m. PT and will include one undercard race and all five Breeders’ Cup races, concluding with the Prevagen Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf. FanDuel TV coverage will begin at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT with the first undercard race and will conclude with undercard Race 10.
The USA Network coverage on Saturday begins at 1:30 p.m. ET/10:30 a.m. PT followed by an extended 3 1/2 hours of live programming on NBC and Peacock from 3:30 - 7 p.m. ET/12:30 - 4 p.m. PT that will feature five World Championship races, including the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic. NBC Sports will provide continued coverage of the final two Breeders’ Cup races on Peacock starting at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. These races will also stream live on BreedersCup.com and Breeders’ Cup social media channels.
FanDuel TV will televise the first two undercard races and eight of the nine Breeders’ Cup World Championships races on Saturday.
