04.24.2025

Trainer Will Walden discusses the excitement of preparing a contender for the $1.5 million Longines Kentucky Oaks May 2 at Churchill Downs while eyeing the first Grade 1 win of his career.

Walden, who took out his trainer’s license in 2022, trains Bourbonette Oaks winner Bless the Broken for the partnership of breeder Cypress Creek Equine and Sol Kumin's Madaket Stables. The athletic Laoban filly punched her Kentucky Oaks ticket with a 2 ¾-length win in the Bourbonette Oaks winner March 22 at Turfway Park.

America’s Best Racing joined Walden and his team at Keeneland for her final workout in preparation for the Kentucky Oaks, a half-mile breeze in :48 that ranked sixth of 43 timed workouts at the distance April 23, and to discuss some of the best qualities of his talented filly.
