Patrick O'Neill of Boat Racing, co-owner of Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby winner Hot Rod Charlie, talks about how lucky the partnership is to get to the Kentucky Derby with only their third horse, using the platform to do something positive, and why the Jake Panus Walk-on Football Endowed Scholarship is such a worthy cause. Jake Panus died in a car accident in 2020. O’Neill said after connecting with Stephen Panus, Jake’s father, Boat Racing embraced the opportunity to support the Jake Panus Walk-on Football Endowed Scholarship and created a saddle towel for Hot Rod Charlie in Jake’s honor to try to spread the word on the scholarship.
