In 2008, underwent a heart transplant, and amazingly went on to have a full recovery where she trained Mucho Macho Man who ran in the 2011 Kentucky Derby.
Mucho Macho Man continued to improve as he got older and finished second in the 2012 Breeders' Cup Classic while still in pursuit of his first career Grade 1 win.
In 2013, he got the elusive Grade 1 victory and much more when he won the Awesome Again Stakes and followed with a career-defining win in the 2013 Breeders' Cup Classic.

Between 1990 and 1998, Kathy won 150 races, among those victories were seven stakes.
Kathy stables her string in Saratoga and Belmont (while in new York) and at Gulfstream when heading south to Florida for the winter meets.
