Riley Mott spent his life around horse racing and began his career as an assistant trainer for his father, Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott. Riley Mott's first winner came with only his third starter on Nov. 10, 2022, when Unifying won at Churchill Downs. As of Oct. of 2025, Riley Mott's stable has grown to 60 horses and his record stood at 97 wins, 75 seconds, 83 thirds from his first 610 starters with purses topping $7 million.

Mott earned his first Grade 1 win as a trainer when he saddled Pin Oak Stud's World Beater to victory the Saratoga Derby Invitational Stakes in August, 2025. He won his second Grade 1 a month later on Sept. 13 when his 2-year-old turfer Argos won the bet365 Summer Stakes at Woodbine. The Summer Stakes was a Breeders' Cup Challenge Series "Win and You're In" event for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf, making Argos Mott's first career Breeders' Cup starter.
