The horse racing world came together in London on Jan. 20 to celebrate the 13th time Longines and the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA) have honored the top Thoroughbred racehorse of the previous year. Additionally, the Longines World’s Best Horse Race was celebrated for the 11th time.

Since its inception in 2017, the Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes Presented by Baccarat at Gulfstream Park has successfully bum-rushed the North American racing calendar and made an impression comparable with hoofprints from the gigantic statue of the winged equine icon of Greek mythology that resides at the Hallandale, Fla. track. 

Trainer Cherie DeVaux said earlier in the week that she would be a "little disappointed" if she did not have a strong contender in this spring's Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve.

A terrific field is taking shape for the 10th edition of the $3 million, Grade 1 Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes Jan.

Horse racing’s equivalent of the Academy Awards takes place Thursday, Jan. 22 with the 55th annual Eclipse Awards, held at The Breakers Resort in Palm Beach, Fla. The Eclipse Awards recognize the best of the best in North American Thoroughbred racing and are voted by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA), staff at Daily Racing Form, and members of the National Turf Writers and Broadcasters (NTWAB).
