West Coast sprinters will get a little added distance Saturday in the seven-furlong Pat O’Brien Stakes at Del Mar. The $250,000 stakes did not attract any of the top three finishers from the Grade 1, six-furlong Bing Crosby Stakes on July 26 at Del Mar, creating a competitive field and that should offer wagering value in several starters.
In the only Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series race held last weekend, She Feels Pretty delivered as the 0.45-1 favorite in the E. P. Taylor Stakes at Woodbine, holding off Diamond Rain by a head.

The rankings are a weekly rating of the top 10 horses in contention and are determined by each voter ranking their top 10 horses with points assigned on a descending 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.
There is no denying that some horses have a special affinity for certain racetracks and perform better when flaunting their talents at those tracks. This is particularly notable in Europe, where the style, shape, and design of the courses varies widely, but the scenario is also seen on a smaller scale in the United States, where some horses display a fondness for the dirt and conditions at a particular track.
