No Change Atop Latest World’s Best Racehorse Rankings, Sovereignty Rises to Tie for Sixth

Ka Ying Rising, who has resumed training after a scheduled break, and Ombudsman, who is expected to run in the Juddmonte International Stakes, continue to lead the sixth edition of the 2026 Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings with a 131 rating, while reigning U.S. Horse of the Year Sovereignty improved his rating by three points.
Sovereignty raised his rating to 125 with a 4 ¾-length victory Aug. 8 at Saratoga Race Course in the $1 million Whitney Stakes, a Grade 1 race in which he defeated champion Nitrogen and 2026 Dubai World Cup winner Magnitude .
Sovereignty moved into a tie for sixth in the World’s Best Racehorse Rankings along with four other runners, including recently retired Hill ‘N’ Dale Metropolitan Handicap winner Nysos.

Another key mover in the August ratings is Bow Echo, who improved to 6-for-6 in his career with a victory in the Group 1 Visit Qatar Sussex Stakes. With his victory, Bow Echo improved his rating to 127 from 126. He defeated Gstaad (125) by a half-length, while Opera Ballo (124) and Ten Bob Tony (121) finished third and fourth, respectively. Bow Echo moved into third place in the rankings and has subsequently been retired.
