Following an emphatic win in the Fasig-Tipton Fair Grounds Oaks last Saturday, Good Cheer rocketed into the top 10 in the Equibase earnings standings for racehorses based in North America to eighth, and up to fifth in the 3-year-old division with $420,000 in 2025 earnings. The Medaglia d’Oro filly trained by Brad Cox and ridden by Luis Saez romped by 2 ½ lengths at Fair Grounds, reeling off her sixth consecutive win to start her career, and earned a career-best 102 Equibase Speed Figure. She also picked up 100 points on the “Road to the Longines Kentucky Oaks,” bringing her total to 145 which places her first on the leaderboard.

Later on the card, Tiztastic dug deep to win the Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby for trainer Steve Asmussen with jockey Joel Rosario aboard. The 3-year-old son of Tiz the Law rallied late to win his first race of the year, taking home the lion’s share of the $1 million purse. Following his 2 ¼ length victory, Tiztastic moved into second in the 3-year-old division and third overall among North America-based racehorses with $730,000 in 2025 earnings. He is also the new leader on the “Road to the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve” with 119 points after picking up 100 points in the Louisiana Derby.

Also on Saturday, Turfway Park hosted the richest race in its history, the $770,000 Jeff Ruby Steaks. Final Gambit, a Juddmonte Farms homebred by Not This Time, rallied from last to first on the all-weather track to take the Jeff Ruby by 3 ½ lengths at odds for Brad Cox with Luan Machado aboard. He is now fourth in the 3-year-old division with $508,639 in earnings, and seventh overall. Final Gambit earned 100 Kentucky Derby points and sits only behind Tiztastic on the Kentucky Derby leaderboard.

Steve Asmussen remains atop the trainer standings in North America, leading in both wins (87) and earnings ($6,418,869). However, Brad Cox is closing the gap, trailing by less than $1 million. Cox had a strong week, winning at a 23% clip with five victories and $1,060,166 in earnings, highlighted by aforementioned wins by Final Gambit and Good Cheer. His recent success pushed him past Saffie Joseph Jr. in earnings, securing second place on the leaderboard. Notably, Cox is winning at a 27% clip this year, with 64% of his runners finishing in the money.

North American leaders lists for horses, jockeys, trainers and owners are available on equibase.com and you can filter the data to view by a wide variety of categories including age, sex, surface and race type.
