The Cheltenham festival is now just a few weeks away as anticipation continues to build among horse racing fans worldwide. Gamblers are getting involved on online sports betting sites, even overseas, on what is one of the biggest events on the racing calendar each year. Markets have now been formed and many expected runners are gaining support, but many are wondering who are the key horses to follow?
With that being the case, let’s cover two horses that are worth following at the 2021 Cheltenham festival.
Where better to start than with the winner of the 2020 running of the Supremes Novices’ Hurdle in the shape of Shishkin. He is now a general odds-on favorite and has won seven of his eight official starts, with his only defeat coming when he failed to finish his debut over hurdles. Since then, he has steadily improved and has now reached an RPR of 170. This proves he could just be the next superstar of the sport, so expect Shishkin to take the world of beating in the Arkle. He has made three starts over fences and has been mightily impressive on each occasion, so the clash with Energumene is set to be one of the best races of the season.\
The second horse to make the select list is Envoi Allen, who heads to the Marsh Novices Chase as the clear horse to beat and is another who could emerge as the next potential superstar of racing. Envoi Allen enters with an unbeaten record of 11-for-11 and again goes in as the banker of the week. He has landed consecutive victories at the Cheltenham festival for the last two seasons, including an impressive victory in the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle last year. He has won each of his three chase starts in effortless fashion this season and is simply going to take a world of beating. The opposition is expected to thin out further, so we can expect his odds to shorten greatly in the betting.
