all in Triple Crown

After a relatively quiet weekend, North American horse racing action picks up in a big way during the February-March switchover weekend with three prep races for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve scheduled that each offer 105 qualifying points each to the top five finishers.

At a time of year when Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve hopefuls are focusing on two-turn preps and qualifying points, Saturday’s Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct offers something different.

Sunday’s running of the $1 million, Grade 2 Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park promises to be an excellent race. There are several proven graded stakes horses among the 10 entrants, though one – #1 Bravaro – is expected to scratch and run in Saturday’s Grade 2 Fountain of Youth Stakes instead.

Oaklawn Park offers a lucrative pathway to the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve that leads to deep, talented fields and compelling 3-year-old qualifying races for the May 2 run for the roses at Churchill Downs.

Welcome to Kentucky Derby Prospect Profiles, where we take a look each week at a recent winner on the Road to the Derby schedule that offers qualifying points to the 1 ¼-mile classic race May 2, 2026, at Churchill Downs.
