all in Triple Crown

There’s so much to explore in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., if you’re planning to visit for the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival from June 4 to June 8, the July 4 Racing Festival from July 3-6, or some time during the summer meet that runs from July 10 to Sept. 1. Well before you get to the track, you have to check out what Saratoga has to offer when it comes to food and drink. This article is for my fellow beer drinkers.

U.S. Thoroughbred racing is dominated by the Triple Crown races – the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes, and the Belmont Stakes – and the 13 racehorses to sweep that trio of races etched their names in the horse racing’s history books as the series elevated them to legendary status.

The $2 million Belmont Stakes presented by NYRA Bets returns to idyllic Saratoga Race Course for the second straight year while Belmont Park undergoes a massive renovation.

As the oldest of the three Triple Crown races, the Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets has seen its fair share of upsets, and the majority of those have come in roughly the last third of the race’s 156-year history. During the post-World War II era, 20 horses have come into the Belmont Stakes with wins in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, only to have their bids for immortality denied (this includes I’ll Have Another in 2012, who was scratched the day before the Belmont with an injury).

Excitement is building as Saratoga Springs, N.Y. prepares to host the Belmont Stakes presented by NYRA Bets for the second consecutive year.
