John Stewart, a lifelong racing fan turned owner-breeder, bought his first horse at the 2022 Keeneland September Yearling Sale and has since become an influential figure in the industry. The founder and managing partner of MiddleGround Capital, a private equity firm, Stewart manages his Thoroughbred interests via Resolute Racing, a farm in Midway, Ky, which has more than 1,000 acres and houses broodmares, yearlings, and horses of racing age.

Resolute Racing enjoyed a breakthrough year in 2024. Stewart’s entity earned its graded stakes wins with the filly Pounce, who captured the Lake George Stakes and Herecomesthebride Stakes. Stewart also found success overseas in 2024 with stakes-winning gelding Goliath.
Resolute Racing is also active in partnerships, most notably as co-owner of Grade 1 winner Didia.
