A total of 46 stakes races across North America last week brought some changes to Equibase’s leaderboards tabulating 2026 North American earnings for horses, jockeys, and trainers.

In the midst of another banner season, Irad Ortiz Jr. became the first jockey this year to surpass $25 million in 2026 North American earnings. Ortiz Jr. had eight wins last week (31%) and $947,755 in earnings, highlighted by a four-win day last Saturday at Saratoga with wins in the Lake George Stakes Presented by Surfside and Jim Dandy Stakes Presented by Mohegan Sun. Irad remains on top of the jockey standings for the second consecutive week and his brother Jose, who also had a four-win day on Saturday at Saratoga, remains in second with $24,620,088 in 2026 North American earnings.

Brian Hernandez Jr. led all jockeys last week by earnings with $1,006,704. Hernandez had just 11 mounts last week but took three trips to the winner’s circle, all in stakes races. His marquee victory came in the Arlington Million Stakes Saturday at Colonial Downs aboard Burnham Square, and Hernandez also won two stakes races Sunday at Ellis Park. He moved into 20^th among all jockeys in North America now with $5,781,959 in 2026 earnings.

Jim Dandy winner Renegade, who finished runner-up in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve and third in the Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets, was simply spectacular Saturday at Saratoga. The Into Mischief colt was 11 ½ lengths off the pace after a half mile but still rallied to a half-length victory in the 1 1/8-mile stakes under Irad Ortiz, giving trainer Todd Pletcher his fifth win on Saratoga’s Saturday card. With $2,427,500 in 2026 earnings, Renegade moved into second on the overall Equibase earnings leaderboard and also second in the 3-year-old division behind Derby and Belmont winner Golden Tempo.

With a half-length victory in the Arlington Million, Burnham Square became a Grade 1 winner on both dirt (2025 Blue Grass Stakes) and turf for trainer Ian Wilkes. This year at age 4, the gelding started the year off with a runner-up finish in an allowance optional claiming race in February following a long layoff and has since fired off four stakes wins in a row on turf, topped by the prestigious Arlington Million. Boasting four wins, a second, and $1,138,489 in 2026 earnings, Burnham Square is now the top North American turf racehorse based on earnings. He ranks 11^th on the overall leaderboard and fourth among older males.

There were again no changes to the top 10 in the North American trainer standings, with Brad Cox still holding a commanding lead and surpassing $18 million in 2026 earnings. Steve Asmussen remains in second but is now only ahead of Mark Casse by $239,130 in earnings. Casse led all trainers last week by wins (11) and earnings ($1,003,174), nabbing wins at Woodbine, Ellis Park, Colonial Downs, and Saratoga.
