Original was moved up against stakes company for the first time in his next start and was successful with a victory in the Grade 3 $300,000 Blame Stakes going 1 1/8 miles at Churchill Downs. Sent off as the 5.42-1 third choice on the tote board in a seven-horse field in the Blame Stakes, Original Sin stalked the pace up close, advanced up to challenge going into the far turn, assumed the lead in the stretch and held firm for a victory by a half a length.
