Nu What’s New emerged during the 2025-2026 Oaklawn Park meet as a stakes-caliber horse with a runner-up finish to subsequent Dubai World Cup Presented by Emirates Airlines winner Magnitude in the Grade 3 Razorback Handicap and then a game win in the Grade 3 Oaklawn Mile Stakes. Prior to the Oaklawn meet, he made five starts without a win but did finish second by a neck and third by a neck in maiden races in Kentucky. Nu What’s New emerged during the 2025-2026 Oaklawn Park meet as a stakes-caliber horse with a runner-up finish to subsequent Dubai World Cup Presented by Emirates Airlines winner Magnitude in the Grade 3 Razorback Handicap and then a game win in the Grade 3 Oaklawn Mile Stakes. Prior to the Oaklawn meet, he made five starts without a win but did finish second by a neck and third by a neck in maiden races in Kentucky. Stretched out to two turns in his first Oaklawn start Dec. 25, he romped by 7 ½ lengths in a one-mile maiden race and then ran even better in a 1 1/16-mile allowance optional claimer to kick off his 4-year-old season on Feb. 5, 2026, winning by 12 ½ lengths.
A move up to stakes company followed, and Nu What’s New set the early pace before settling for second to Magnitude by 3 ¾ lengths in the Razorback. In the March 28 Oaklawn Mile, he set a pressured early pace and was kept to task in the stretch to prevail by three quarters of a length over Grade 1 winner East Avenue, earning his third win in four starts at Oaklawn.
Nu What’s New shipped to Churchill Downs for his third 2026 start and finished fifth in the Alysheba Stakes Presented by U.S. Army May 1. He stayed at Churchill for the Hanshin Stakes Presented by JRA on closing day of the spring/summer meet and rebounded with a sharp front-running score, prevailing by 1 ½ lengths.
Nu What’s New is a gelded son of Munnings out of the Scat Daddy mare Heavenly Scat, and is a close relative to Santa Anita Handicap winner Southern Image.
