Chief Wallabee made his career debut as a 3-year-old on Jan. 10, 2026, and won a seven-furlong maiden race by 1 1/2 lengths atop a field of eight. His second lifetime outing came against stakes company in the Grade 2 Coolmore Fountain of Youth Stakes going 1 1/16 miles at Gulfstream Park on Feb. 28 and finished second by a neck to Commandment. The Fountain of Youth was a points race on the Road to the Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve, and with his second-place finish he earned 25 qualifying points.

Chief Wallabee made his next start in the $1 million Grade 1 Curlin Florida Derby going 1 1/8 miles at Gulfstream Park on March 28 and gained ground in the stretch from off the pace but had to settle for third in a six-horse field behind Commandment and The Puma. The third-place finish was enough to earn Chief Wallabee another 25 points on the road to the Kentucky Derby, giving him 50 total points which is likely to be enough to get him into the field for the run for the roses.
