Bio
Spiced Up was unplaced in two starts as a 2-year-old in 2024, both coming on the main track at Churchill Downs. The Juddmonte Farms homebred, trained by Hall of Famer Bill Mott, relished a surface change in his 3-year-old bow, dominating by 2 ¾ lengths in a three-quarter-mile turf sprint June 20, 2025 at Aqueduct.

The Quality Road colt’s second start of 2025 served as a major test as he was challenged in the Grade 3 Mahony Stakes Aug. 10 at Saratoga and aced the exam. Spiced Up closed with a powerful rush to reel in graded stakes winner Governor Sam in the closing strides for a 1 1/4-length win under Junior Alvarado.
Spiced Up was produced by the winning Pioneerof the Nile mare Cardamon, a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winner Emollient and 2018 Belmont Stakes third-place finisher Hofburg. Cardamon is a spice from the ginger family, hence the name Spiced Up.
