Runaway Storm won his maiden race in his second career start as a 3-year-old on June 16, 2023 in a 1 1/8-mile turf race at Laurel. He followed that up with a 6 1/2-length allowance win at horseshoe Indianapolis on Aug. 3, and then was sent to the Grade 3 Virginia Derby at Colonial Downs where he finished a respectable third in his fourth career start.

Runaway Storm is trained by Ethan West. He was bred in Kentucky by the sire Midnight Storm out of the mare Runaway Betty by Run Away and Hide.
