During 2022-23, Torres rose to the top rank of jockeys at the competitive Oaklawn Park meet, becoming the fastest jockey to reach the $1 million mark in earnings during a race meet at the Arkansas track in early January 2023. A few weeks later, he notched his first career stakes win when riding Last Samurai to victory in the Grade 3 Razorback Handicap on Feb. 18 for Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas. He earned his first Grade 1 win aboard Gun Pilot in the 2024 Churchill Downs Stakes presented by Ford and won the Southwest Stakes in 2026 on SIlent Tactic, his first mount in the Kentucky Derby.
