1. Can you tell our fans a little bit about each hat that makes up the new ABR line from Christine A. Moore Millinery and where and how they can buy them?

Each hat I designed for ABR is aimed at a demographic that is exploding at the tracks. I wanted to create something that is stylish, elegant, and easy to wear and that is price-point conscious. This collection is available here on our website and will be available at events we will be partnering for with ABR.

2. What racing event has the best fashion?

The Best fashion? I always love that question. Each track and event has their own look and feel, and I love that about racing. Obviously, everyone thinks about the Kentucky Derby because it is the biggest sporting and fashion event in the country where women and men spend a lot of time deciding what they want to wear, and there are always fun and surprising styles to see. Gotta love Breeders’ Cup, too!

3. Do you personally prefer wearing hats or fascinators?

I love them both but it depends on the event.  I tend to wear more fascinators because they are great for a busy lifestyle at the track. I am always running around and meeting people.

4. How long have you been designing and making hats?

I started my fashion business here in New York City in 1994 and have made hats for theatre since 1988.

5. Why are hats cool at the racetrack?

It enhances the fun of the event. So many people are looking for places they can dress up for and go and have a fun time, and looking great doing it is always fun!

6. Who is the most famous person you've ever made a hat for?

Probably Katy Perry and Jennifer Lopez for magazine cover shoots and, as a customer, maybe Al Roker and Kate Upton.

7. Who would you like to make a hat for that you have yet to do so?

I almost got to make hats for Gwen Stefani twice and would love to realize that. I think she is so stylish and adventurous.

8. Besides a day at the races, what other occasions do your hats fit?

I do a lot of Botanical Garden luncheon events such as the Central Park Conservancy, Naples Botanical Garden, the Trust for the National Mall and the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. Other events include Mardi Gras and even Southern Balls.

9. What’s your favorite season?

I love fall. I started my first collection designing fall hats and love the autumnal colors of that season. I still love designing that collection.

10. Do you bet? What’s your biggest score to date?

I do and I am bad at it despite having some great tutors! I think the most was $38 at Preakness!

11.  Do you have a Derby horse yet?

Hmmmm - I am still looking at it – my ABR experts have not gotten back to me on this yet, but I am thinking that is it way too early to pick yet, especially now that Mastery is out, but I might have a better opinion this weekend after the Rebel Stakes!

12. How many racetracks have you visited?

Quite a few and each have their own charm. I have been to Churchill Downs, Pimlico Race Course, Belmont Park, (my home track) Saratoga Race Course, Keeneland Race Course, Oaklawn Park, Santa Anita Park, Gulfstream Park, Arlington Park, Del Mar and Monmouth Park. I also love steeplechase and have been to Iroquois and Point to Point.
