Little Red Feather Racing Club is stepping outside the traditional racing partnership to offer sports fans a unique opportunity to become a racehorse owner using the new Title III laws.

The LRF Thoroughbred Fund was designed as a way to crowdfund the first-ever Thoroughbred racing partnership in which each participant receives real equity in each racehorse.

Essentially, interested buyers purchase a percentage interest in the fund and Little Red Feather, founded by Billy Koch and managed by Koch and Gary Fenton, handles the rest. The goal is to provide an opportunity to anyone interested to pursue the thrill of owning a racehorse.

The fund will be managed by Little Red Feather, which has 15 years of experience in Thoroughbred racing and won the 2004 NetJets Breeders’ Cup Mile with Singletary, a race horse named after Hall of Fame Chicago Bears linebacker Mike Singletary.

Little Red Feather will use the capital raised to purchase up to six Thoroughbreds to race at Del Mar and Santa Anita Park via public auction, claiming races or private purchase. Each investor will own a pro-rata percentage of the fund.

Once the racehorses are purchased, they will be sent to one of Little Red Feather’s trainers to prepare for their debut for LRF Thoroughbred Fund.

According to LRF Thoroughbred Fund, “the hallmark of LRF is its ability to communicate the horse’s journey with its investors. This ‘inside-the-locker-room’ communication provides a wealth of knowledge to both people new to ownership and those that have owned before.”

Little Red Feather also will provide investors with an accounting summary and distribute available proceeds to investors.

There are three different levels at which investors can join the fund, ranging from $500 to a more than a $10,000 investment. The entry level is called The Crowfunding Package where investors can join for as little as $500 and receive detailed updated on the racehorses, purchase winner’s circle photos and meet the horses.
