The prep season for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve is in full swing as the second weekend in February approaches, with two more preps offering valuable qualifying points to the May 7 run for the roses on the schedule.

After a spectacular slate of racing to close out January highlighted by Life Is Good’s win in the Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes last Saturday, the first weekend of February promises no letup with three qualifying points preps for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve on the schedule.

Unusually cool weather couldn't stop the party at Gulfstream Park, as the Hallandale Beach, Florida track played host to the fun and festivities of the 2022 Pegasus World Cup Invitational Presented by 1/ST BET. The team from Eclipse Sportswire was on hand to capture the sights of the first major event on the 2022 racing calendar. 

The final week in January on the horse racing calendar has taken on a larger significance over the past five years due to the emergence of the Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes as a marquee race for older dirt horses at Gulfstream Park.
