The upcoming weekend in horse racing is highlighted by an influential prep race for the 2026 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve in California and the opening of one of horse racing’s most popular tracks, Oaklawn Park.
Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Ark., kicks off its 2025-26 meet Friday, Dec. 9 and will run into early January before taking a three-week break and then returning to hold live racing until early May. Read ABR’s gambling preview here.
Live racing from Oaklawn Park will be an integral part of “America’s Day at the Races,” which is produced by NYRA and covers racing at Aqueduct this winter. That program will air three days this week, from Friday until Sunday, Dec. 14, with analysts on-site at Oaklawn opening day and beyond. “America’s Day at the Races” runs on FOX Sports – check the below schedule for channels and times.
Los Alamitos hosts its Kentucky Derby prep, the Los Alamitos Futurity, on Saturday, Dec. 13. The 2024 edition was won by this year’s Preakness Stakes winner and Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets runner-up Journalism.
Racing from Los Alamitos will be shown live on FanDuel TV along with action from tracks including Turfway Park, Gulfstream Park, and Woodbine. Woodbine ends its 2024 meet on Sunday.
Horse racing from tracks around the world is available to subscribers on Racetrack Television Network (RTN), which can be livestreamed on all devices (computer, tablet and smartphone) and on TV via DISH Network, Amazon Fire and Roku.
