The biggest week in North American horse racing is straight ahead, and an international media spotlight will shine on Churchill Downs as it hosts the 150th anniversary running of the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve.

The “greatest two minutes in sports,” featuring a field of up to 20 3-year-old Thoroughbreds, will occur on the evening of Saturday, May 4, with over 140,000 fans in attendance at the historic Louisville racetrack and audiences watching worldwide. The Kentucky Derby will culminate a week’s worth of public events, parties, and high-quality racing in Louisville, adding to the tradition of a signature cultural event in America.

NBC Sports has the exclusive broadcast rights to Derby 150 and as usual will devote substantial resources in terms of production equipment and personnel to present full-spectrum coverage of the Kentucky Derby and its surrounding festivities. The Derby and races on the May 4 undercard will be shown live during a five-hour national broadcast on NBC, airing from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. ET, also streaming live on Peacock. Post time for the Kentucky Derby is set for 6:57 p.m. The network’s May 4 coverage actually begins at 12 p.m. ET with a 2 ½-hour broadcast of earlier Kentucky Derby undercard races airing on the USA Network and streaming on Peacock.

NBC Sports' Spanish-language coverage of Derby 150 will be on Telemundo Deportes, beginning Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET on Universo, and streaming on TelemundoDeportes.com and the Telemundo app.

On Friday, May 3, NBC Sports will also present live coverage of the Longines Kentucky Oaks, Churchill Downs’ signature race for 3-year-old fillies, which will also be held for the 150th time this year. Coverage of the Oaks and other races from Churchill will air May 3 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET on USA Network and stream live on Peacock. In all, NBC Sports will air 12 ½ hours of horse racing on live television for Oaks and Derby days.

Mike Tirico will anchor NBC Sports’ Derby coverage, with racing analysis from Jerry Bailey and Randy Moss, handicapping from Eddie Olczyk and Matt Bernier, reporting from Britney Eurton, Donna Brothers, Kenny Rice, and Nick Luck, plus several other correspondents on hand for lifestyle coverage and a return appearance from NBC’s statistical guru Steve Kornacki.

Aside from the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks and most of the undercard races on May 3-4, live racing from Churchill Downs will air on FanDuel TV throughout the week, including the popular Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (aka “Thurby”) cards. FanDuel TV’s coverage of the spring/summer Churchill Downs meet began on opening night, April 27, and will continue through the end of the meet on June 30. In addition to its focus on Churchill Downs racing, the network will air live racing daily from tracks such as Santa Anita Park and Gulfstream Park as part of its usual schedule.

The Kentucky Derby Morning Works Show presented by Churchill Downs is underway and continues daily through Thursday, May 2. The 20-minute show, which features analysts/handicappers Joe Kristufek, Kaitlin Free, Kevin Kilroy, and Tony Calo plus many guests throughout its run, airs at 7:25 a.m. ET on the Kentucky Derby’s Facebook, X/Twitter, and YouTube channels.

Live racing from the Belmont at the Big A meet in New York (which opens Thursday, May 2) and Oaklawn Park (which concludes its annual meet on Sunday, May 5) will be showcased on “America’s Day at the Races” during a four-day run from May 2-5. The NYRA-produced show airs on FS2 this week and also features a Kentucky Derby preview show on FS2 on May 2. Check the below schedule for times.

Horse racing from tracks around the world is available to subscribers on Racetrack Television Network (RTN), which can be livestreamed on all devices (computer, tablet and smartphone) and on TV via DISH Network, Amazon Fire and Roku.

A new livestreaming platform is launching for 2024 Derby week, and America’s Best Racing is participating. Starting at 12 p.m. ET on Wednesday, May 1, Daily Racing Form and In the Money Media will produce a 24-hour “DerbyThon” extravaganza featuring 31 continuous livestream shows previewing the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks. During its run, “DerbyThon” will also raise money for the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund, and The Jockey Club Safety Net Foundation.

America’s Best Racing will host two livestreams during “DerbyThon.” The first will bring back the hosts of the recently completed ABR livestream series “Keeneland Weekend Kickoff LIVE!” – Rachel Miller, Ren Carothers, and Alexa Zepp – for a show streaming on Wednesday, May 1, at 6 p.m. ET.

ABR’s second “DerbyThon” livestream also airs Wednesday, May 1, later in the evening at 10 p.m. ET. The second show be hosted by Dan Tordjman, Ashley Mailloux, Jose Contreras, and J.D. Fox. Both shows will be available for live streaming on ABR’s Facebook, X/Twitter, and YouTube channels. For a list of the full “DerbyThon” livestream schedule, click here.
