There’s just something special about Del Mar, and if the first two editions of the Breeders’ Cup held at the seaside track offer any indication, the 2024 World Championships should be a magical event.

Fourteen championship races make the Breeders’ Cup a can’t-miss event year in and year out, but the allure of perfect San Diego-area weather, fantastic food, and the opportunity for a refreshing swim in the Pacific Ocean significantly elevate Del Mar as a host track.

With the San Diego vibe in mind, Breeders’ Cup created multiple  ticketing options inside the rail to give racing fans a unique atmosphere to relax and enjoy two days of unmatched championship racing.

The typical infield experience at a Triple Crown race might evoke images of picnicking or more debaucherous revelry, but the goal for Breeders’ Cup this year was much, much different. The vision was to capture the ambiance of the seaside town in several relaxing areas inside the rail at Del Mar that would appeal to both locals and visitors flying in for a sun-splashed San Diego weekend.

“The Inside the Rail Experience truly captures the unique essence of Del Mar,” said Justin McDonald, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Breeders’ Cup Limited. “From relaxing Adirondack chairs to Pacific Ocean sand brought in just for the World Championships, we’ve created a laid-back but refined setting ‘Where the Turf Meets the Surf’ that also provides the personalized service and fantastic hospitality guests anticipate when attending the Breeders’ Cup.”

The Inside the Rail Experience features four different options ranging from $67 per day to $265 depending upon what guests are looking for from a day at the Breeders’ Cup.

Fans looking for an exceptional  experience have great choices, including Surfside tickets, The Beach, and the Infield Pacific Pavilion.

Surfside seating is located just beyond the finish line with a terrific view of the racing action plus shaded seating if you want a break from the San Diego sun. Relax in an Adirondack chair between races, grab a bite to eat from some of the best local restaurants, and sip a signature drink at the exclusive premium bar. This area also grants trackside general admission access to the Grandstand and Clubhouse areas for those who like to spend some time people watching or want to catch up with friends on the other side of the track.

The Beach was inspired by the iconic Bing Crosby song “Where the Turf Meets the Surf” and gives racing fans a chance to kick off their shoes and get some sand between their toes by pairing horse racing with the beach vibes. What could be better?! Like the Surfside area, there will be plenty of great food and drink options available and tickets grant Grandstand and Clubhouse access. But you’d better act fast because Saturday tickets already sold out for The Beach and there are a limited number of Friday tickets available in this serene oasis.

The Infield Pacific Pavilion looks like a great option for those of us who can’t bear to miss a minute of the racing action, with plenty of TVs to catch a replay of a thrilling stretch run in a  shaded outdoor pavilion. Reserved dining is included with the ticket and there are single-seat options or tables for four or eight available for both Breeders’ Cup Friday and Saturday.

Infield General Admission tickets can be purchased individually for Friday or Saturday or as a two-day pass with access to more than 20 different food vendors as well as a large bar with specialty drinks, craft beers, wine, and more. This area features picnic-style seating with plenty of access to betting windows and is a great option for racing fans looking for a little fun in the sun that won’t break the bank.
