I am often asked what my favorite racetrack in America is, and I always say Keeneland and Saratoga Race Course. Keeneland has a special place in my heart because I have attended trunk shows for the opening weekend and the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes for 17 years now.

I think Keeneland is one of the most beautiful tracks in the U.S. Most tracks, due to their age, are now surrounded by a town or city; Keeneland is surrounded by beautiful grounds and fence-lined farms. The drive into the track is special and feels like you are entering an expansive estate.

Both Keeneland and Saratoga host Thoroughbred auctions, so everyone and anyone immersed in the horse racing industry visits Keeneland.  With the “Who’s Who” of racing in attendance … the fashion never disappoints.

Although Lexington is only about an hour from Louisville, the styles could not be more different.

You will always find an elegant, what I call “put-together look” at Keeneland. Green is always a favorite color.

The tailgate scene at Keeneland is unique and always vibrant and fun. Out in the fields you will see medium-brimmed hats, small fascinators, fedoras, and even boaters for the guys.

The party atmosphere has a fun, preppy feel and a down-home party vibe.

During your visit make sure you check out Keeneland’s unique fashion destination “Milliner’s Corner.” It is the best place at any track to find a racing hat, and my hats have been there since the beginning.
