Flightline enters the Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic Nov. 5 at Keeneland with an unblemished record intact having won his five career starts by a combined margin of 62 ¾ lengths. The closest any competitor has come to Flightline at the finish line is six lengths. He improved to 5-for-5 with an absolutely dominant 19 ¾-length runaway win in the Grade 1, $1,000,500 TVG Pacific Classic Stakes Sept. 3 at Del Mar. On paper, Flightline is the fastest horse in training … by a considerable margin. But we wanted to know a little more about the Flightline the horse, behind the scenes and around the barn of trainer John Sadler. Here is what we discovered:

Flightline (Eclipse Sportswire)

Personality: He’s like a teenage boy. He likes to look at the girls. He can be playful, shy, and sweet. At times he wants to rough house and nip and buck. He likes things on his terms. If you come over to pet or work with him, he will let you know if he is not in the mood.

Favorite Drink: He does not drink beer.

Favorite Snack: The only snack he likes is carrots, and that is only when he is in a good mood.

Nick Name: “Big Boy”

Race-Day Traits: On race day, he is a little excited. It’s like he knows he is going to run.

Flightline Around the Barn: On non-race days, he likes to take his naps, enjoys walks, and stops to look up at the sky. He likes planes and birds flying by, and he likes to look at the stars early in the morning.
