The New York Racing Association (NYRA) invites fans to celebrate next Saturday’s 152nd running of the $1 million Belmont Stakes from wherever they are and however they want, with an assortment of downloadable content.

“Your Belmont Stakes” is an immersive, at-home initiative, complete with contender information, race-day activities, downloadable content, and more. It’s designed to maximize the ways that fans can experience the Belmont Stakes in an unusual year.

Set for Saturday, June 20, the 2020 Belmont Stakes and other races on Belmont Stakes day will be held without spectators to align with required health and safety measures implemented in New York to mitigate risk and combat the spread of COVID-19.

NBC Sports, the exclusive broadcast partner of the Belmont Stakes and Triple Crown, will provide full coverage of the Belmont Stakes and other major stakes races at Belmont Park from 3 to 6 p.m. ET June 20 on NBC, NBCSports.com, and the NBC Sports app.

“‘Your Belmont Stakes’ is a great way to get involved and follow the action on one of the best days of the year in American racing,” said Don Scott, vice president, marketing at NYRA. “These interactive tools are our way of providing ‘the next best thing’ to being at Belmont Park next Saturday.”

“Your Belmont Stakes” includes downloaded items from contender information (full-profile information on jockeys, owners, trainers, and past races for every Belmont Stakes contender); and race-day activities to share with family and friends, including a Belmont Stakes Box Pool; posters and special trading cards of each contender; cutouts of jockey silks of the contenders; and tip sheets from NYRA TV experts for all the Belmont Stakes day stakes races.

There are even special Belmont Stakes’ recipes to enhance your enjoyment of the day. Anyone for a Belmont Jewel*?

Traditionally contested at 1 ½ miles and held as the third and final leg of the Triple Crown, this year’s Belmont Stakes will be run at a distance of 1 1/8-miles to properly account for the schedule adjustments to the Triple Crown series and overall calendar for 3-year-olds in training. This year’s race will be the opening leg of the Triple Crown for the first time in history.

The 2020 Belmont Stakes was originally scheduled for Saturday, June 6, but was pushed back by two weeks to June 20. The revised date and distance follows the previously announced rescheduling of the Kentucky Derby, from Saturday, May 2, to Saturday, Sept. 5 as well as the rescheduling of the Preakness Stakes from May 16 to Oct. 3.

In addition to the Belmont Stakes, Belmont Stakes day will include several other Grade 1 races, including the $300,000 Longines Acorn Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at one mile on the dirt; the $250,000 Jaipur Stakes presented by America’s Best Racing for 4-year-olds up going 6 furlongs on the turf; and the Woody Stephens presented by Claiborne Farm for 3-year-olds going 7 furlongs on the dirt.

* The Belmont Jewel is the official cocktail of the Belmont Stakes, made with 1.5 oz. of Woodward Reserve Bourbon, 2 oz. of Lemonade, and 1 oz. of Pomegranate Juice. Shake vigorously with ice and serve in a rocks glass with ice. Garnish with a red cherry or a lemon twist.
