Intrepido

Intrepido won his maiden race as a 2-year-old in his second lifetime start in a one-mile dirt race where he dueled back and forth for the lead and put away the challenger and extended his advantage through the stretch to win by a 3 1/4-length margin.

Intrepido's next assignment came in a much tougher spot for trainer Jeff Mullins in the Grade 1 $300,000 American Pharoah Stakes presented by DK Horse going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Santa Anita on Oct. 4, but Intrepido took it all in stride and captured the Breeders' Cup Juvenile prep race by three-quarters of a length. Sent off as an 8.80-1 shot in a six-horse field that included four horses trained by Bob Baffert, Intrepido stalked the pace all the way and rolled past the leaders in deep stretch to get up in time for the victory.

The American Pharoah was a Breeders' Cup Challenge Series "Win and You're In" qualifier, and with his win Intrepido earned a fees-paid automatic berth into the Juvenile. Subsequently in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Oct. 31 at Del Mar, Intrepido finished fifth in a six-horse field.

Intrepido made his 3-year-old debut on Feb. 7, 2026, in the Grade 3 $100,000 Robert B. Lewis Stakes going one mile at Santa Anita. In the Lewis Stakes, Intrepido raced on or near the pace all the way and ran on for second by three-quarters of a length behind Plutarch. In his following start, Intrepido finished fourth in the Grade 1 $500,000 Santa Anita Derby on April 4. The distant fourth-place finish earned Intrepido 15 Kentucky Derby qualifying points for a total of 38. 

Intrepido is trained by Jeff Mullins. He was bred in Kentucky by the sire Maximus Mischief out of the dam Overly Indulgent by Pleasantly Perfect.
