Abel Cedillo, a native of Guatemala, won his first race in 2010 and for most of the decade built his career on the Northern California circuit, primarily at Golden Gate Fields, where he won his first graded stakes in 2014.
Abel Cedillo, a native of Guatemala, won his first race in 2010 and for most of the decade built his career on the Northern California circuit, primarily at Golden Gate Fields, where he won his first graded stakes in 2014.
Cedillo moved his tack to the more competitive Southern California circuit in 2019 and in late summer/early fall broke through on a national level, traveling to Churchill Downs in Kentucky and winning the Grade 2 Pocahontas Stakes on Lazy Daisy and then capturing three graded stakes wins on Santa Anita Park’s opening weekend of its fall meet, including his first Grade 1 score aboard Mongolian Groom in the Awesome Again Stakes.
