Waves of Mischief, a daughter of top sire Into Mischief, won her career debut on April 18, 2024, at Keeneland in convincing manner, drawing clear to take a one-mile turf race by a length. The 3-year-old filly followed that effort up with a third-place effort in the listed Hilltop Stakes at Pimlico in May behind top-class She Feels Pretty but then tired to finish last of seven in her graded stakes debut when shipped to Woodbine for the Grade 3 Selene Stakes on an all-weather track.

Trainer Brendan Walsh brought Waves of Mischief back in the Grade 3 Pucker Up Stakes Aug. 4 at Ellis Park, a 1 1/8-mile turf stakes. She gained a good early position against eight opponents and settled in second behind post-time favorite and Grade 3 winner Pin Up Betty after a half-mile. Jockey Brian Hernandez patiently kept his mount in a stalking spot until midstretch, when she moved up and dueled with Pin Up Betty in the final strides before prevailing by a head.
Waves of Mischief is out of the unraced Quality Road mare Pearl River and is a close relative to champion and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Sweet Catomine and Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic (Distaff) winner Life Is Sweet.
