Vault, a Pennsylvania-bred daughter of Jump Start, began her racing career in her native state and won five of her first 12 starts there. She then won a stakes race at Laurel Park in November 2019, before three new owners joined owner-breeder Barlar and the filly was transferred to trainer Brad Cox.

For Cox, Vault raced six times without a win, finishing second in the Obeah Stakes at Delaware Park in 2020, before she took an allowance race Oaklawn Park in March 2021. One start later, Vault scored her first stakes win by 1 ¾ lengths in the Grade 2 Ruffian Stakes at Belmont Park on May 2, rallying from last under Joel Rosario.
Vault is out of the stakes-placed winning French Deputy mare D’s Delight and is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Mirth.
