Truly Quality

Truly Quality began her career as a 3-year-old in 2023 and got her maiden win in her third career start at Belmont Park on July 7. She finished her 3-year-old season winless in two more trips to the post.

Truly Quality took a big step up in her career during her 4-year-old season in 2024. She was victorious in an allowance race at Belmont at the Big A on May 27, 2024, and then she became a stakes winner for the first time at Colonial Downs when she topped a four-horse field to win the $150,000 Colonial Cup Stakes by 2 1/2 lengths going 1 1/2 miles on the turf.

Truly Quality won her first career graded stakes race when she won the Grade 3 $175,000 HPIBet Singspiel Stakes going 1 3/8 miles on the Woodbine turf course on Oct. 5. In the Singspiel, Truly Quality raced last in the 13-horse field and came with a dazzling last-to-first rally down the center of the track in the stretch to get up and win by three-quarters of a length.

The gelding earned his fourth win of 2024 at his fourth different racetrack when he won the Grade 2 $200,000 Hollywood Turf Cup going 1 1/2 miles on the grass at Del Mar on Nov. 29. Sent off as the 8-5 favorite in a field of nine, Truly Quality raced far back in the field off the pace and rallied past his rivals in the stretch to win by a half a length.

After an active 2024 campaign, Truly Quality made only two starts through the first 10-plus months of his 5-year-old season. He finished sixth in the Grade 3 San Marcos Stakes in February at Santa Anita Park and then did not start again until Aug. 30, when he finished a fast-closing fourth by a half-length in the Grade 2 Del Mar Handicap Presented by Japan Racing Association. The gelding then returned for a repeat bid in the Hollywood Turf Cup at Del Mar Nov. 28, and took over in the stretch under first-time rider Mirco Demuro to post an impressive win.

Truly Quality is trained by Jonathan Thomas. She was bred in Kentucky by the sire Quality Road out of the mare Truly Together by Smart Strike.
