Trainer Mike Maker moved the Malibu Moon filly to the grass for her third race and stretched her out around two turns to 1 1/16 miles. She took command in early stretch but faded to third Aug. 18 at Saratoga in her turf debut. Maker was encouraged enough from the first start on grass to test Towhead against stakes competition and she ran second by a nose to Chop Chop in the $500,000 Aristocrat Gaming Juvenile Fillies Stakes Sept. 3 at Kentucky Downs.
Stakes-placed winner Smartly Agree, by Smart Strike, is the dam (mother) of Towhead.
