Ted Noffey began his career with an impressive 2-year-old win at first asking in a Saratoga maiden race on Aug. 2, 2025. Trainer Todd Pletcher wasted no time from there to raise Ted Noffey up against stakes company and circled the Grade 1 $300,000 Spendthrift Farm Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga for Ted Noffey's next start.

The Hopeful is the premier 2-year-old race on the annual summer calendar at Saratoga and the sever-furlong race drew a seven-horse field made up entirely of last-out winners coming from a variety of tracks. Sent off as the 3.80-1 third-choice on the tote board, Ted Noffey left no doubt who the best horse in the race was. He pressed the pace all the way, went to the lead at the top of the stretch, and accelerated from there to run off to an 8 1/2-length victory in a time of 1:22.35 under jockey John Velazquez.

Ted Noffey was pointed next to the $650,000 Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity Oct. 4 at Keeneland, a Grade 1 race that serves as both a qualifying race for the FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Presented by TAA and a points race for the 2026 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve. He again proved up to the task, powering away in the stretch to a facile 2 3/4-length victory to improve to three wins in as many starts while passing his first distance test navigating 1 1/16 miles.

Ted Noffey is owned by Spendthrift Farm and is the reverse namesake of Spendthrift Farm manager Ned Toffey. By leading sire Into Mischief, Ted Noffey is out of Grade 2-placed stakes winner Streak of Luck, by Old Fashioned.
