Secret Reserve won four of his first five races, including stakes wins in the Elgin Stakes and Lake Superior Stakes at Woodbine in August 2021 and October 2021, respectively. He then finished second in the Lake Ontario Stakes before an unplaced finish in his final start of his 3-year-old campaign.

The Giant Gizmo gelding was unplaced in his first start as a 4-year-old in 2022, but he showed improvement when finishing third by a half-length in the Ontario Jockey Club Stakes June 19. That set Secret Reserve up nicely for his graded stakes debut when he rallied from fifth at 10.35-1 odds to win the Grade 3 Bold Venture Stakes by a half-length Aug. 13 at Woodbine.
Secret Reserve is out of the unraced Smart Strike mare Smart Suzie, a half-sister to 2007 Arlington Million winner Jambalaya.
