Ready for Shirl, owned and bred by Charles Fipke and trained by Canadian Hall of Famer Roger Attfield, earned her first win in her career debut, taking a 1 1/16-mile maiden race on turf by an impressive 3 ½ lengths over future graded stakes winner Pin Up Betty at Keeneland during the spring 2024 meet. The More Than Ready filly then in allowance and stakes races over the next year and a half, at her home track of Woodbine and in Florida and Kentucky, picking up two wins at the allowance level through 10 additional starts.

She indicated a rise in form during summer 2025 with a close second-place finish in the Grade 2 Nassau Stakes at Woodbine, and then in her next start earned a breakthrough graded stakes score in the Grade 2 Canadian Stakes Presented by Japan Racing Association July 20 at the Ontario track, edging favorite Gimme a Nother by a neck under Emma-Jayne Wilson.
Kentucky-bred Ready for Shirl is out of Fipke’s Perfect Shirl, who won the 2011 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf, and she is a half-sister to Maker’s Mark Mile winner Shirl’s Speight.
