Queen Maxima

Queen Maxima won her career debut outing as a 3-year-old in a five-furlong turf sprint at Del Mar on Aug. 10, 2024, and by her third lifetime start she was already placed second in the $102,000 Unzip Me Stakes going 6 1/2 furlongs down the hillside turf course at Santa Anita on Sept. 28. She ended the 2024 season with a six-furlong turf sprint win at Santa Anita on Dec. 29.

Queen Maxima raised her game to another level early in her 4-year-old season in 2025. She began with an allowance optional claiming turf sprint win at Santa Anita on Jan. 23 and then won the $100,000 Wishing Well Stakes by 3 1/2 lengths going six furlongs on the Santa Anita turf on Feb. 22. She earned the first graded stakes win of her career when she took the Grade 3 $100,000 Monrovia Stakes in a 6 1/2-furlong downhill turf sprint at Santa Anita on April 5 atop a six-horse field in a resounding 4 1/4-length wire-to-wire runaway as the 1-5 favorite. 

Queen Maxima shipped east to Churchill Downs for the $400,000 Monrovia Stakes presented by Don Julio on the May 2 Longines Kentucky Oaks undercard. She faced a new variable when a thunderstorm softened the turf course before the race but she handled the adversity with aplomb in a runaway victory under Juan Hernandez.

Queen Maxima is trained by Jeff Mullins. She was bred in Florida by the sire Bucchero out of the mare Corfu Lady by Corfu.
