Pickin’ Time, a New Jersey-bred Stay Thirsty colt owned and bred by John Bowers, Jr., and trained by Kelly Breen, won his career debut on July 4, 2020, at Monmouth Park in a 4 ½-furlong race. He was moved up in class to run in the Grade 2 Saratoga Special Stakes Presented by Miller Lite in August and finished eighth, but rebounded in his next two starts back at Monmouth, finishing second in the Sapling Stakes and then winning the Smoke Glacken Stakes by a nose.
Pickin’ Time, a New Jersey-bred Stay Thirsty colt owned and bred by John Bowers, Jr., and trained by Kelly Breen, won his career debut on July 4, 2020, at Monmouth Park in a 4 ½-furlong race. He shipped back to New York for another graded stakes try in November, and won the Grade 3 Nashua Stakes by 2 ¼ lengths at Aqueduct, his third victory in five career starts. In his next start, he finished a well-beaten fourth in the Grade 2 Remsen Stakes.
Pickin' Time won the first stakes race of his 3-year-old season on Aug. 28, 2021, when he won the New Jersey Breeders' Handicap by 1 3/4 lengths. After two consecutive stakes defeats, he bounced back with a victory in the City of Laurel Stakes at Laurel Park on Nov. 27.
Pickin’ Time is out of the winning King of Kings mare Born to Royalty, and is a half-brother to multiple stakes-winning New Jersey-bred Royal Urn. Notable extended family members include Grade 3 winners Smart N Classy and Valedictorian.
