Midcourt

Midcourt needed four starts to earn his first career victory, winning a one-mile race by a nose at Santa Anita Park in June 2019. He followed with a 1 ¼-length allowance victory that gave his connections the confidence to test him against stakes competition and he aced that test as well with a neck win in the Comma to the Top Stakes Oct. 27 at Santa Anita.

Midcourt extended his winning streak to four with a runaway victory in the Grade 3 Native Diver Stakes in November at Del Mar. He closed out his 4-year-old season with a third-place finish in the Grade 2 San Antonio Stakes.

Making his 5-year-old bow in the Grade 2 San Pasqual Stakes, Midcourt led from start to finish on his way to a 3 1/2-length runaway victory Feb. 1, 2020 at Santa Anita Park. In 2020, he finished second or third in four different graded stakes races.

Midcourt made his 6-year-old debut in an allowance race at Santa Anita on June 18, 2021. He won handily, drawing off in the stretch to a 2 1/4-length win.

A $450,000 purchase at the 2016 Keeneland September yearling sale, Midcourt is by two-time Breeders’ Cup Sprint victor Midnight Lute out of Grade 1 winner Mayo On the Side, by French Deputy. Midcourt is a half-brother to stakes winner French Dip.
