Gregorian Chant won his career debut in Ireland in December 2018. Subsequently transferred to the United States to trainer Phil D’Amato, he won an allowance-optional claiming race in May 2019 in his first start in this country. He was unplaced in three stakes races in his final three starts of the season.
In 2020, Gregorian Chant won one of seven races, a 1 1/16-mile allowance-optional claiming race at Del Mar in August, and also finished third in the Lure Stakes.

Gregorian Chant cut back to a sprint for his 5-year-old bow, and the Gregorian gelding earned a breakthrough stakes win by closing from off the pace for a 2 ¼-length score in the Clocker’s Corner Stakes at three-quarters of a mile Jan. 24 at Santa Anita. Carrying the momentum of a stakes win into the Grade 3 San Simeon Stakes March 13 and staying at a sprint distance, Gregorian Chant outfinished Sombeyay to prevail in a thrilling finish to add a graded stakes victory to his resume.
