First World War, a War Front colt trained by Brendan Walsh, won at first asking on Sept. 13, 2024, at Kentucky Downs, defeating 11 foes by two lengths in a one-mile turf race. He then tried stakes company in the Dixiana Bourbon Stakes at Keeneland and finished a good fourth before moving to dirt for two starts. Both of those resulted in runner-up finishes, the first in a 1 1/16-mile allowance optional claimer at Churchill Downs and then in the one-mile Mucho Macho Man Stakes at Gulfstream Park.

Returned to turf in the Feb. 3 Grade 3 Kitten’s Joy Stakes at Gulfstream, First World War picked up his first stakes victory under regular jockey Tyler Gaffalione.
The Kentucky-bred colt is out of the Grade 3-placed, winning Medaglia d’Oro mare Sundaysatthebeach, and his second dam (maternal grandmother) is two-time Grade 1 winner Ask the Moon.
