French-bred Etoile won three out of seven starts in her native country, including a Group 3 stakes, before relocating to North America and trainer Chad Brown in 2020. She disappointed as the favorite in her domestic debut, running eighth in the Grade 1 Gamely Stakes on turf at Santa Anita in May, but improved considerably in her next start when second by a half-length in the Grade 2 Dance Smartly Stakes at Woodbine in August.

On Oct. 18, Etoile won the Grade 1 E.P. Taylor Stakes at Woodbine by a neck to capture her first race in North America and her second graded/group stakes overall.
Etoile is a daughter of top sire War Front and out of the Group 3-winning Sadler’s Wells mare Gagnoa. She is from the family of Epsom Derby winner and sire Pour Moi.
